Launch Team Opportunity for Subscribers
Dear Subscribers,
If you have pre-ordered a copy of Unexpected Abundance, I have an opportunity for you to join me in trying to change the conversation about women, Christian women in particular: that is, the fallacy that motherhood is an essential, necessary human experience. Of course it can be a beautiful experience, but women who do not have children are also fruitful and faithful. Unexpected Abundance: The Fruitful Lives of Women Without Children is all about that.
Launch time is apparently the biggest opportunity writers have to get their book noticed. For me, Unexpected Abundance has been a ministry, and by being on the launch team you would help me to spread its message. Here’s how it would work:
Reply to this email with your name, email address, and a receipt of where you bought the book.
I will compile a list for Eerdmans, and they will email you a digital copy of the book at least two weeks before publication date (three weeks from tomorrow, i.e., August 22), in exchange for a review on Goodreads, Barnes and Noble, Amazon (which you couldn’t do until pub day, and you might have to buy the book from them—at least three people who preordered from Amazon have already received their copies…?) and/or on your own social media. A review doesn’t mean something lengthy: it can be “Good read. I wish it were longer” or “this author is crazy, but I liked her book” or “this should be required reading for all seminarians.” (Kidding about that last one. I want to tear my hair out every time I see a review that says a book “should be required reading.”)
Apparently, there are magic numbers of reader reviews that help books get noticed by algorithms, and I believe it’s 50 reviews/ratings. If you can help me get to that, I’d be grateful (and ecstatic—it seems out of reach right now).
I long to change the narrative that women must become mothers to fulfill God’s purpose. We women who are not mothers are still fully human.
If you haven’t preordered yet but want to take advantage of this launch team opportunity, here are some links:
My favorite option is still to preorder from your local favorite independent bookstore. Buy local when you can! Independent bookstores are the BEST. I don’t want to imagine a world without them.
Thank you so much for subscribing, and thanks for considering!
Best,
Elizabeth Felicetti
