Keeping you in prayer always. I tend to agree with you about optimism. Sometimes it is difficult, my situation is not as serious as yours. I am currently undergoing chemo treatment and beginning to lose my hair. I'm grateful for all the love and support I'm receiving from so many, I consider it a great treasure. I am looking forward to reading your next book. Not to sure I'm going to be able to make a book signing. I am confident it will be quite successful.

Keeping you in prayer, knowing that I am miserable at transitions myself. Might this one land gently for you.

Love and light to you, my dear. And continuing prayers, of course. To put it in into MY vernacular: this news sucks! "Gutting", indeed! And all that advice to "stay positive" is truly nonsense. I can only imagine how you feel about stepping down from the church you love, the need for closer parking, etc. Looking SO forward to the new book which I know will come in handy for so many of us and will carry your wise voice to others for a very long time.

Your newsletters are always so beautifully written, Elizabeth. A joy to read, even when dealing with difficult content. I feel your grief at stepping down from your duties as pastor. The thing is, though, that your influence in people's lives doesn't stop with the active duties - it is the nature of the role that moments of guidance from a spiritual advisor in the present will be felt and considered and acted upon throughout their parishioners lives, and even transmitted to others. Sending you love from Australia x

I'm so sorry to read of your illness. My brother, who is only 71 years of age, is now in hospice because of liver cancer. May Jesus watch lovingly over you both.

Elizabeth, I am so sorry to read your medical news. I'm especially sorry you have to step down from St. David's. I am in the not-sure-when-but-I'm-gonna-retire-before-too-log phase, because of age and thankfully not health issues. That is my transition these days, and it's full of challenges, but I (sometimes) trust there will be lots of good in it too. I'm keeping you in my prayers. Connie

Hi Elizabeth,

Rachel has a lot of problems--way too many to describe! But sometimes when I'm feeling down my (new) husband reminds me that I am doing the best that I can and it is probably a lot better than many people could do. Sometimes I laugh about our situatuons with other moms who have children with disabilities. It's good for me to have friends who are in a similar situation and understand.

Ahhh... Gutting to read this. Repudiate that cruel optimism/stay positivism.

Your life burns so bright, dear one.
