Thank you for your post…I really like your example/description of devouring vs savoring! Thank you for that reminder. A good one for Lent. I am doing Praying in Color each day of Lent. Google it if you are not aware. This is my 7th year.

I love this and am completely stealing/borrowing it for my own Lenten practice this year. Five minutes of true savoring each day. And your sentiment must be in the air, because at Ash Wednesday service our own pastor suggested not giving anything up but instead adding something that brings joy and replenishment to our soul instead. "How about more chocolate instead of less?" were I think her exact words 😉

I love how you put it that you turned to "using expletives in my journal" in 2020. And this whole post is so rich! Earlier today I wrote down a list of four things I might want to "do" this Lent. Just now after rereading your post I crossed out "do" in each entry and replaced it with "savor." The things I'm going to savor include training my dog not to be so reactive, writing a book review I've committed to, working out and walking a lot, and focusing on nutrition in a particular and time-limited way. Thanks for the great book and podcast suggestions, too!

A fun surprise to see Old Books With Grace. Cannot WAIT to read your book when it comes into the world. I had a well-loved biography of Elizabeth Blackwell as a middle schooler!
