Particularly nice one. I love the pencil metaphor...

Beautiful piece, Elizabeth. I think God actually prefers pencils (with good erasers) to pens, but also glitter crayons for expressing joy. Thankful you are moving through this phase and hope the side effects of the meds ease up a bit. Prayers, always.

Brilliant title/caption for this part of your life, Elizabeth. And thank you, as always, for sharing your unique journey with us. I'm sharing your columns with a friend and fellow parishioner who is going through a similar "oh no, it's BACK!" journey. Love and blessings to you - Rev. Melody (Perdue - ESC) quoted you in a sermon not long ago - made my day! Marni+

Beautiful post, Elizabeth. As a planner myself, I can imagine the frustration that this "living in pencil" time has brought. I pray the glitter crayon days grow more abundant. So glad you can be with your family. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. I've just pre-ordered your book! Look forward to seeing you soon.

I am awed by the way you can fully embrace moments of joy as you’re powering through your brutal cancer treatments. Your strength is truly inspirational!
